Chris Howell is a life-long artist and photographer and living in Dallas, Texas. His photographic career began in 1988, and has led to work with Agence France Presse, Reuters, Feizy Import-Export, varied freelance commissions, as well as two decades of silver-based fine art image production. He has also captured images for USA Boxing at their national tournaments and Olympic Trials. His photos have been published in Architectural Digest, The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Observer, HFN and The Met.
A native Texan; raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chris attended the University of New Mexico and Southern Methodist University. He has worked in drawing, painting, sculpture, story-telling, casting, mosaic, hand-built cameras and most recently, documentary filmmaking. Chris produced and directed his first documentary, Old Man in 2004. Old Man was awarded the Texas Filmmaker’s Production Fund Grant in 2005 and played to a sold-out house at SXSW in 2006. For the past seven years, he has been directing and producing Sweet Science, which chronicles the lives of four top-ranked boxers and their coach as they quest to qualify for the US Olympic Boxing Team in both 2004 and 2008.
In August 2007, Studio C Films entered into a partnership with the production team of Post Asylum in Dallas, Texas with the goal of finishing the film. Post Asylum enjoys recent success with an HBO run and Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival in 2006 for the critically acclaimed documentary, TV Junkie. Post Asylum is a full service creative house specializing in commercial, cinema and corporate post production. Their talented, award-winning editors utilize the latest gear including, Avid DS/NitrisHD, Symphony NitrisHD, and AdrenalineHD for creative editorial and finish. Their team of music composers and sound engineers work on the latest ProToolsHD systems with two recording studios for VO and sound design and ISDN digital patching. The visual effects department specializes in 3D design and animation, 2D motion graphics design and effects. Post Asylum provides complete DVD authoring, web design, closed captioning, telestream spot delivery and a full complement of post producer services.
